The artwork is white background and illustrated with a red outlined X-Ray rocket image, the name "Astron X-RAY" in black and red letters, a printed price of "Only $1.75" and K-18 kit number. Estes marketed the Astron X-RAY as a single stage payload rocket with visible payload bay.

As compared to other early Estes kits of the same era, the X-Ray is very difficult to locate and is rated as extremely rare and should command a strong premium when available for sale.

The kit features a main body tube, balsa nose cone, clear payload section, a balsa adapter, one sheet of balsa fin stock, 12" parachute, engine mount, launch lug, and instructions.
