Description: Horizontal image: pre-Damon Era Big Bertha from mid 60's; I believe this kit variety with no hang tag was produced from 1965 through 1967. The facecard is also part of the instruction sheet. The facecard is illustrated with a red rocket outlined image over white background, the name "Big Bertha" in black letters and a printed price of "Only $2.00".

Estes marketed Big Bertha as a simple to build rocket which was ideal for demonstration flights due to its slow impressive take-offs. Recovery of the Big Bertha is with an 18" parachute.

The kit features a main body tube, balsa nose cone, two sheet of balsa stock for fins, engine mounting system, 18" plastic parachute, launch lug, and instructions.
