Capped Bust and Liberty Seated Half Dimes
Part II of the New Jersey Collection features 1865 and 1867 Civil War key dates along with San Francisco brank mint counterparts; all are graded AU58 and reside in old NGC holders. The 1839-O is very choice Small O while the richly toned 1835 half dime is the LM-5.2 die pairing with extensive die clashing but no die cracks of note. The balance of the New Jersey Collection is raw and housed in 1961 Library of Congress album. The release of the raw coins will be Part III of the collection sale.
The New Jersey Consignment is from a new GFRC client. This individual has been collecting for decades and is also an early Liberty Seated Collectors Club member. As the Baby Boomer's reach post retirement years, the need to carefully plan the sale of cherished coins arrives. The above New Jersey Collection gallery is just a preview of this individual's entire Liberty Seated half dime set that will be offered through GFRC. These five slabbed half dimes were purchase in the 2003-2004 timeframe at major auctions with the 1849-O NGC AU55 being an important high grade rarity, while the 1850-O V-2 Large O is a gem original piece grade NGC AU58. Then there is the 1864-S NGC AU58 purchased from the Heritage Jules Reiver Collection Sale. The balance of the New Jersey Collection half dimes will be made available after the 2015 Chicago ANA show.
