Comments: The die crack at the base of the 1 and 8 digits is consistent with Variety 104 obverse die state.

The weaker reverse device elements and the disappearance of the die lines behind A(MERI)CA suggest that Reverse D was polished before striking additional coinage with Obverse 3. However a common die line remains in the right wreath to the left of AM(ER)ICA. This die line is consistent between the pre and post lapped die states. The metal flow lines within the flash around the bow knot are also consistent between Varieties 104 and 104a though being polished down on 104a.

I've found this die pairing and in particular, this die state without the reverse die lines to be easy to locate.
