Comments: Locating fully struck examples of this date will be difficult. The 1850, 1851 and 1852 New Orleans dates saw extensive circulation due to their lower silver content versus comparable Mexican coinage circulating in the United State Southern state during that timeframe. Only one obverse die has been identified and is paired with two reverse dies. One must question the historically stated mintage of 430,000 against the fact that only one obverse die has been identified. The relatively high mintage of 430,000 dimes suggests that more than one obverse die could have been employed. To date, no Obverse 1 late die state examples have surfaced and no second obverse die has been located. Value As A Date (Coin World Trends/CoinValues
