Comments: The date positions on Obverse 1 and Obverse 2 are very similar. Check for repunching of the 1 digit to properly attribute each obverse die. Obverse 1 is always found paired with the Small Thin S reverse. Obverse 2 is always paired with the Small Block S reverse. The Small Block S reverse is more difficult to locate than the Small Thin S reverse. Variety 101 tends to come softly struck on both the obverse and reverse with late die state examples being available. Circulated examples of both varieties are often seen with problems.
