$750 		Small Thin S, Satiny Luster, Golden Rose Patina, Choice Surfaces, Newtown Collection. 1873 San Francisco strikes are found struck from two separate die pairs. On the F-101 die pair, the 1 digit is repunched. Repunching is visible above the left and right feet of the 1 digit. The reverse die is marked with a Small Thin S mintmark style that was previously used during 1867 and 1869. This die variety will be found in early thru late die states, with progressive degrees of die erosion at the denticles. The Newtown Collection is releasing a choice example that is found in a middle die state based on the die crack in the lower right wreath. Satiny mint luster remains fresh and is covered with a semi-transparent orange-gold film. Cartwheel luster is pleasing when viewed under a light source.
