$1150 		Scarce First Year Issue, Thick Crusty Gray Patina, Choice Original Surfaces, Accurately Graded, Grimjet Collection. Ex. Dr. Glenn Peterson Collection. First year of Liberty Seated half dollar production at the San Francisco mint with a mintage of 129,950 pieces. This date circulated heavily on the West coast due to pent up demand for smaller silver denomination coinage. The result is low survival rates, especially choice, for present day collectors. A quick check of the CAC population report revealed only thirteen examples approved in all grades with seven between and inclusive of the Good 6 and Fine 15 grades. This example is perfectly original with thick gray patina covering both sides. Fields exhibit honest wear with some mild obverse chatter that is more than consistent with the assigned grade.
