$625 		Low Mintage Date, Tooled Obverse Graffiti, Cleaned, Southern Texas Collection. All the low mintage Liberty Seated halves from 1879 through 1890 are challenging. This 1881 offering is ideal for the budget collector who needs to fill these holes in a Dansco album. Surfaces are toned a steely gray-rose on both sides. Light tooling of an engraved "M" in the right obverse field is readily apparent in-hand and on the GFRC images. Fields are lightly hairlines from an old cleaning. A presentable filler possibility until a strictly original example can be located. December 1969
