$1850 		Rare Cameo Grade, Brilliant Reflective Mirrors, Superb Eye Appeal, Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. A superb 1870 proof strike offering with brilliant reflective luster and sharp mirrors. Proof mintage of that year was 1000 pieces of which seven have been certified as PR65 Cameo by PCGS. Strike is hammered with high relief legend lettering and deeply impress hair curls. The 1870 F-101 web-book plate coin at The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors with the following commentary, "Examples of 1870 proofs come well struck. A long die scratch through the lower shield will identify the F-101 proof obverse die. The reverse die exhibits a die crack starting at the end of the left ribbon and proceeding through the left ribbon and across to the right ribbon end. This reverse crack becomes more evident on F-103, where the same reverse is again used to strike the second proof variety for 1870."
