Key Date, Peripheral Gold, Residual Frosty Luster, Choice Surfaces, 85% CAC Buyback. Ex. Twin Lakes Collection where this 1927-S EF45 Standing Liberty quarter was the highlight of his set offerings. This date has the lowest mintage of any Type 2 quarter and second in the series only to the 1916. Most survivors will be found well circulated and at the Good through Fine grade level. PCGS has certified well over 1100 pieces at those grade levels. Population drop quickly in EF/AU. CAC population at the EF45 grade level is a meager 12 pieces, with few to support that broad range of Standing Liberty quarter collectors. This example is conservatively graded with residual frosty luster. Overall toning is light gold with darker shades at the peripheries. Surfaces are unabraded on this well preserved example. If planning to add an 1927-S key date quarter to a date and mintmark set collection, why not spend a bit more to acquire a top quality premium example? Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
