Rich Old Album Toning, Brilliant Frosty Luster, Superb Bright Light Eye Appeal. Some coins are so beautifully toned that the traditional price guide are no longer relevant. This 1831 O-108 Capped Bust half probably sat in an old sulphur paper album for decades. The result is beautiful obverse coloring that is marginally illustrated by the GFRC images. This piece exhibits brilliant luster and active cartwheels during bright light viewing. Fields are somewhere on the continuum between frosty and steely. More important are the exceptional fiery orange, red, and gold colors on the obverse along with aquamarine and blues. The reverse toning is even light gray with embedded gold. Fields are entirely unabraded. An ideal offering for fans of old album toning. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2021) Gold Shield holder. December 1969
