Students of the U.S. $2.5 Liberty series should take note of this 1840 Charlotte first year offering. Mintage is a tiny 12,822 pieces with only 15 certified by PCGS at the EF40 grade level. This 1840-C example exhibits a strong strike along with green-gold coloring. Please note the fully defined stars and lower hair curls along with well impressed reverse devices. Surfaces are fully choice and unabraded. This new Lizard Collection offering has been to CAC and did not sticker. I have not explanation and still consider this piece to be choice and worthy of an advanced collection. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (1998-2002) holder. December 1969
