Gem Original, Satiny Cartwheel Luster, Transparent Aquamarine-Rose and Blue Patina, Superior Eye Appeal, Completely Struck, Fairly Graded, Newtown Collection. Price Reduction June 2020 - How about another stunning Liberty Seated half dollar offering from the Newtown Collection? This gem original 1877 San Francisco strike has much to offer for those that seek the best possible coins for their collection. In hand toning is a combination of aquamarine and rose-brown colors as illustrated in the GFRC images. Bright light viewing exposes satiny cartwheel luster that is so close to being reflective. This assessment is quite subjective on my part. The luster is brilliant and melts the transparent toning. The result is light rose and sky blue colors on the obverse and incremental gold on the reverse. Strike is complete without any weak points. There is one obverse hairline from Liberty's knee up to star 10. Knowing John Albanese's requirements for mint state coin CAC approval, I suspect this single hairline will not pass muster for a green bean. Otherwise, this piece is a gem and accurately graded with superb eye appeal. Housed in 2015 style PCGS holder. December 1969
