$725 		Choice Original, Newtown Collection. Sharply reflective surfaces contrast with the central devices, and a “black and white” look is evident as the coin is tilted under a light. Hints of gold patina are present on both sides, more so on the obverse. This example is nicely struck with strong detail in the left leg feathers, a typical area of weakness on the reverse of the Seated half. The Mint added arrows to the 1873 and 1874 silver coinage to signify a slight change in weight, which increased from 12.44 to 12.50 grams. The latter figure was a nod to the metric standard, being the equivalent of 25 grams per dollar. Housed in a PCGS Gen 3.1 (1993-1998) old green holder. December 1969
