$8500 		Near-Gem at Grade, Key Date, Tenafly Collection. A near gem original example of the 1860 San Francisco Seated quarter date that belongs in one of the top collections under construction. Where else will you find an 1860-S offering of this caliber? Surfaces are 100% naturally toned with light gray patina that becomes deeper around the date, stars and all reverse devices. Most impressive is the lack of any blemishes on a silver coin that received moderate circulation. Mintage is only 56,000 and essentially unknown in Mint State; there is a lone PCGS MS61 while NGC reports no MS examples. So well preserved and one of the finest at the VF-EF grade level. The CAC population is 23 pieces total with only five in higher grades. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
