Scarce Date & Grade, Olive-Rose Patina, Near Choice Original, AuburnNY Accordian Collection. 1867 brought the final year of low mintage Liberty Seated dimes at the western frontier San Francisco Mint. A total of 140,000 pieces were struck for local commerce. Few survivors are known in AU or better grades. Current PCGS population in all AU grades is a scant 18 pieces with some being resubmissions. GFRC is pleased to be offering an AU50 example from the AuburnNY Accordian Collection. Surfaces are near-choice and covered with an olive-rose patina that is consistent on both sides. Struck with later die state dies as die erosion and die clashing are seen under 10c loupe. Strike is typical for the date with some weakness at the head and upper left reverse wreath. Bright inspection reveals some residual steely luster under the toning. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 holder. If attempting to build a Seated dime date/mintmark set, this piece would fit in nicely due to originality. December 1969
