$1001 		Errant 4 in Gown, Choice Original, Seated Appalachian Collection.. Smoky patina splashes across the obverse fields, while original silver color underlies the medium skin. The reverse color is lighter, with bits of dirt apparent in the shield and arrow feathers. Star centers are evident while a few of the eagle’s claws blend together. Marks are minimal for the grade and the overall eye appeal is excellent. The 1842-O half has two major varieties, being the small and medium date style. This is similar to the 1842-O quarter, which also comes with a small or large date. This example is WB-13, with medium date and an errant 4 punched in the gown, to the right of the ribbon.
