$500 		Crumbled Die Obverse, Near-Gem Original, Underrated, Tenafly Collection. The 1854-O Crumbled Die variety is easy to attribute, with substantial die erosion in the date. The 5 digit is now closed, while the crosslet of 4 is weak. This circulated cameo example exhibits even, deep gray fields that contrast with lighter central devices. Marks are consistent with the grade and overall eye appeal is excellent. CAC does not recognize the Crumbled Die variety but has certified 26 1854-O quarters in all grades total. Housed in a PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
