Final Issue Year, Brilliant Satiny Luster, Aquamarine Rose-Gold, Superb Gem. 1873 brought the final year of Seated half dime production as the nickel five cent piece had proven to the accepted in commerce. Mintage amounted to 712,000 piece with most Mint State survivors found at the MS62-MS64 level. At superb gem, this date becomes rare and the basis for adding to GFRC inventory. Bright light inspection reveals brilliant luster that presents a satiny texture. Both sides are similarly toned with aquamarine-gold being prevalent on the obverse and aquamarine-rose on the reverse. The toning is quite transparent to the underlying luster. Die clashing is readily evident on both sides along with unabraded fields. A recent new purchase and fairly priced. This one has not been to CAC. Housed in new large font NGC holder. December 1969
