$2500 		Choice Original, Newtown Collection. Gene Gardner enjoyed acquiring duplicates, and this piece resided in his collection along with the MS69 (not a typo) example of this date. While the MS69 piece is lightly toned, this piece is richly patinated in shades of electric violet, lilac, and copper-red. F-101a, with a die crack extending from the R in AMERICA toward the rim. A few lines in the right obverse field preclude CAC certification. The 1845-O is an important condition rarity in the Seated dime series, and the PCGS population rapidly decreases as one advances from EF (28 pieces) to AU (16 coins), to MS (three examples).
