Gem Original, Newtown Collection. With the Coinage Act of 1853, the supply of silver to the Mint increased dramatically, and the production of dimes grew nearly tenfold in this year. As such, there is a good supply of high grade survivors, and the CAC population report notes 18 pieces in MS66 with eight pieces finer. This example exhibits frosted luster with moderate cartwheels. Thick toning reveals mixed shades of emerald, maroon, and cobalt blue on both sides. With the addition of arrows at the date, this issue is popular among Liberty Seated and type collectors alike. The CAC guide value is $3,150. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
