Choice $650 Lazy D(I)ME, Thick White Mint Frost, Brilliant Luster, Vibrant Cartwheels, Massachusetts Collection. Ex. Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. This Massachusetts Collection duplicate has a storied past as the 1877 Type 1 reverse F-107 plate coin within The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference. It was sold into this collection followed by being crossed by the consignor into a new PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2022) holder. The original GFRC description reads as follows; "1877 Philadelphia strikes have a huge mintage of over 7,000,000 but locating choice Mint State examples will be challenging. One would expect to see many offered on the market place at any one time but that is not the case. Offered here is a brilliant frosted example from my reference collection and the Type 1 reverse F-107 web-book plate coin. Strike is hammered with bold devices including upper reverse wreath grains and the corn ears. Under a light source, cartwheel luster is quite vibrant." The F-107 die variety can be easily attributed by a lazy I in DIME. Purchased January 2001 and in the Fortin collection until being sold during December 2018.
