Die Scratches Below Left Arrow, Brilliant Frosted Luster, Ex. Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. During 1853, arrows were placed on the left and right side of the date digits. The need to hand punch two arrows and the date digits brought about a working die preparation change with the date and arrows hubbed into a master die. Fortin die variety research has identified at least 19 obverse dies that were prepared in this manner. More are assured to be identified in the future. The F-106 Hubbed Arrows & Date die pairing is one of the easiest to attribute given die scratches below the left arrow. This F-106 plate coin, within the Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference, offers choice surfaces and brilliant frosted luster. Die clashing is also evident behind DI(ME). A pleasing example for the serious die variety collector. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.0 (1998-2002) holder. December 1969
