$500 		Near-Choice Original, Steven Vitale Collection.. The entire 1868-S mintage of 260,000 was accomplished with a single pair. Those dies suffered significant erosion during later die states. Heavy metal flow lines will predominantly be seen on the reverse along with weakly defined wreath devices as is the case for this Vitale Collection specimen. Though the devices are weak, mint bloom has been imparted to both sides with glowing satiny luster during bright light assessment. This piece has been conservatively grade from a wear perspective with AU device details. Housed in PCGS Gen 5.0 (2015) Dupont hologram holder. December 1969
