Rich orange color blankets the obverse of this first year of issue three, while the reverse exhibits deeper gray patina, with bits of copper shade above the wreath. Fields are smooth for the grade, with surfaces less marky than one might expect for the assigned grade. Production throughout this series was minimal, and even in this year the Mint produced less than 140,000 pieces. CAC notes 352 pieces in all grades, with 63 coins finer.
