Gem $5750 Gem Original, Newtown Collection.. This is a piece that has to be seen in-hand to fully appreciate the deeply original surfaces and swirling cartwheels. Medium to thick rose skin covers both sides and leads toward blue crescents at the rims. The frosty luster is fully Gem and further highlights the old-time color of this low-mintage example. Star centers are completely delineated, while a few of the claw joints meld as one. CAC has approved 28 pieces in all grades, with three coins finer. The CAC guide price is $6,000, a reasonable level for a near-finest known example. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2022) holder with CAC approval.
