This scarce New Orleans date presents a mintage of only 124,000 pieces with most survivors are clustered at the EF40 through low AU grades. An impressive CAC approval example with well-balanced visuals. Fields are steely reflective with claims to being lightly mirrored. The coloration is classic green-gold with honey-gold overtones. Surfaces have a few stray ticks of no consequence. Strike is weak, especially on the reverse with Doug Winter citing this date as being among the most poorly struck for a New Orleans issue. Advanced collection should carefully consider this historical artifact for its overall beauty and rarity. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.0 (1998-2002) holder with CAC approval.
