A noteworthy 1861 San Francisco Seated quarter offering along with distinction as a key date in the series. Mintage is documented at 96,000 pieces with few saved from western frontier commerce. Nearly the entire mintage went into circulation and remained there until well worn or lost. This survivor is noteworthy for its stellar preservation and nearly unabraded fields. Wear is uniform with the surfaces covered by a tannish-gray patina with richer brown shades on the obverse. Overall eye appeal is well above average for a circulated example of this date. A 10x inspection located a few hidden lines in the upper right obverse field of no consequence. A piece of Civil War era history that is worthy of consideration. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert.
