$1900 		Challenging Philadelphia Issue, Lightly Mirrored, Classic Green-Gold, Reflective Luster, Choice Surfaces. The 1876 $2.5 gold issue is a rare in Mint State with nearly all collectors needing to settle for a choice AU example. Our old time Liberty $2.5 gold release includes this choice example from a mintage of 4,170 pieces. During angled lighting assessment, lightly mirrored fields are noted along with considerable reflectance. Coloration is classic green-gold with yellow honey-gold being prevalent at the peripheries. The surfaces are minimally abraded with a concentration of micro-marks in the open space above the eagle. CAC has approved only 24 in all grades with 15 finer, but at substantial higher premiums.
