Deep Cameo Designation, Flashy Mirrors, Gem Original, Evergreen State Collection.. A sharply cameoed proof 1891 dime that brings the final year of the Liberty Seated dime design to a conclusion. This is easily one of the finest and visually appealing survivors from a mintage of 600 proof strikes. An upper end gem with frosted devices and fields that offer flashy reflectance with sunglasses being advised when viewing under a strong bright light. Pristine fields are evident on both sides with a single tiny lint mark noted between the hair curls and right hand fingers. Interestingly, the reverse die exhibits subtle die polish line between D(I)ME and the lower left wreath maple leaf, undoubtedly as made. Sharp lettering and partial wire rims are also noted. No provenance is available after researching PCGS auction records. The CAC census reports only six deep cameo certified examples with a single piece being finer. The CAC price guide estimates fair market value at $6000. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
