 Choice $450 Repunched Date, Frosted Luster, Rose-Gold Coloration, Top 100 Varieties Candidate, Massachusetts Collection.. A brilliant frosted example of the popular 1849 repunched date die variety. For years, this variety was listed as 1849/8 overdate but was questioned by Greer and later debunked by Fortin when writing the "web-book" as remnants of the first date punch are clearly evident in the upper loops of the 8 and 9 digits. This repunching is bold and well displayed within the date digits of this eye appealing AU58 example. Brilliant luster remains in harmony with peripheral rose-gold on both sides. Strike is hammered and adds to the desirability. Accurately graded and housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2002-2004) holder. An old time Liberty Seated dime that has the Indiana and Massachusetts Collections pedigree in the GFRC Sales Archives.
