A bold crescent of electric blue and violet patina fills the right stars, sharply contrasting with the silver color to the left. The ice-white eagle is highly frosted, approaching a Cameo designation were this a proof example. The strike is sharp throughout and delivers full detail, not a trivial matter as quarters from the 1870s exhibit lower relief overall than earlier coins in the series. The CAC census notes 99 coins total, with 28 examples finer. The CAC price guide value is $2,750 in MS66. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder with CAC approval.
