Classic CAC Eye Appeal, Steely-Frosted Luster, Ideal Type Candidate, New Orleans Collection. The 1908-O Barber half dollar date was produced in larger quantities (5,360,000 struck) such that the date is ideal as a type coin purchase without any premiums. When searching for that ideal type coin, strict originality, luster, and overall eye appeal are the imperatives. The New Orleans Collection has released this attractive near-gem with the classic "CAC" look. The surfaces are as struck with textured frosted luster being radiated under a bright light along with the expected cartwheels. Natural blue, gray, and some olive shades are intermixed on both sides with the toning being deeper on the obverse. The overall strike is essentially complete with only the left facing eagle wing tip not fully detailed. This offering is much more attractive as compared to the GFRC illustrations so please factor this point when considering a purchase. This lot would also be ideal for a circulation strike date and mintmark set along with fitting into most collecting goals. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. December 1969
