Choice $3750 Choice Original, Island City Collection.. The 1896, 1901, and 1913 San Francisco issues are well-known as the keys to the Barber quarter set, with the 1913-S placed firmly in the middle of the group in terms of rarity. The present coin is near-perfect for the grade, with smooth surfaces and even color. High points exhibit coin-grey patina while the fields and recessed points reveal deeper slate shades. The figure of Liberty is neatly outlined, and the overall eye appeal is strong for a VG example. CAC has approved 269 pieces total, of which 194 examples are at VG8 or less. For the most part, Barber quarters were either quickly saved or quickly spent, with the result that CAC has not certified even a single piece in the EF or AU range. The CAC price guide value is $3,980 in VG10 and advances to $6,000 in F12. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval.
