We open the newest Scenic Lakeview consignment release with an 1878 7/8TF example with brilliant radiance and vibrant cartwheels. By now everyone knows the story of how the original Morgan 8 tail feather design was altered to seven tail feathers. In actuality, bad eagles have ten to twelve tail feathers, so what was all the fuss about? This lot is the famous die making error with a 7TF hubbing over an original 8TF die. The separate hubbings are easily seen on the piece under 10x. Luster falls into the solidly frosted category with swirling cartwheels under a bright light. The thin peripheral gold arc enhanced the overall eye appeal. Overall, a choice example that is fairly priced. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder.
