 Original $295 Small O, Reverse Rotated Clockwise 85 Degrees, Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. 1849-O Obverse 2 will be found in two distinctly different die states. This F-103(a)(b) example is the late die state (a)with a notably lapped obverse die that reduces the date digit size. The (b) suffix captures a dramatic 85 degree clock wise reverse rotation as this pairing is known for multiple rotated reverse positions. This piece has been in my collection since the mid-1990s and was purchased raw. The obverse is mostly deep gray with gold at the rims. Intermixed rose and blue dominate the reverse.
