Choice $395 Low Mintage San Francisco Date, Golden-Gray Frosted Luster, Swirling Cartwheels, CAC Approval. Faint golden-gray obverse patina is transparent to the underlying steely luster on this lightly circulated 1886-S Morgan. The reserve patina is deeper with the same obverse hues. This color consistency validates the originality. The low 750,000 piece mintage has made this a popular date since the B. Max Mehl auction sales of the early 20th century. This date remains scarce as few were found in the 1982-1964 Treasury bag release. A notable example with much character that is sure to please the new owner.
