 Gem $3650 New March 3! Cameo Designation, Gem Original, Evergreen State Collection.. 1860 brought the introduction of the Longacre-Paquet Liberty Seated dime redesign. This new obverse design (Type 1) lasted only through 1861 before being promptly replaced with a more robust design (Type 2) that was less "delicate" and subject to rapid wear. The 1860 proof obverse exhibits a group of horizontal die lines starting from the sixth stripe in the shield and moving right, under the scroll at LIBE(RTY), and ending at the fold in Liberty's gown line. This superb gem example presents an opportunity to study the delicate design features. Accurately designated as a cameo given the heavily frosted main devices that are surrounded by mirrored fields. The PCGS certification is accurate as surfaces are entirely unabraded and free off the faintest hairlines. Mirrors are sharp with faint amounts of whitish-gray toning at the date and on the upper obverse. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2002-2004) holder.
