$827 		Proof Dies, Near-Gem Original, JBN Collection.. Crusty is the operative word for this 1870 F-101a lot that was struck by left over proof dies. The F-101a attribution is straightforward as a reverse die crack connecting the ribbon ends is validation. The thick crust limits most of the expected steely reflective luster though the certified grade is 100% accurate concerning wear. This JBN release is a classic CAC centric lot that screams originality. Obverse strike is complete with bold wire rims. If crusty Seated coinage is your forte, then a strong bid is warranted. The total CAC approved population is surprisingly low only 23 pieces and on par with the 1865-S through 1867-S issues. Lots of value here. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder with CAC approval.
