Original $3375 New April 14! First Year Type 3 Issue, Low Mintage, Frosted Luster, Honey-Gold, Scenic Lakeview Collection. 1877 brought the release of the third double eagle Liberty reverse design with TWENTY DOLLARS on the lower reverse. Mintage was limited to only 397,650 strike at the Philadelphia mint. This survivor is accurately graded and presents frosted luster. Coloration is a consistent honey gold. The obverse fields exhibit chatter as is so typical for the issue. David Akers indicates that, "When available, this date is usually in EF or AU condition. Average quality UNCs are very scarce and choice Mint State pieces are rare. In gem condition, the 1877 is very rare and I have seen only a couple at that level." This new offering is fairly priced given the rapid price jump at MS62. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
