$6301 		Choice Original, Difficult Grade, Key With Stars Date, JBN Collection.. The 1846 is well-known as a key issue in the Seated dime series, with a low mintage of 31,300 pieces. This example is nicely struck, with distinct star points and strong leaf detail. Deeper steel-gray centers are surrounded by cloudy copper color at the rims, and the aesthetic appeal is compelling. F-101, the business strike dies, with a defect in 6. CAC notes 46 pieces in all grades, with only three coins finer than the present example. With the CAC price guide nearly doubling between EF45 and AU50, this is the best example one can hope to acquire without venturing into the five-figure range. The CAC guide value is $5,250. Ex.
