Under Appreciated Later San Francisco Date, Gem Original, Mirror Collection. The 1871-S half dime is an underrated situation within the "common" final dates of the serious. Mintage was limited to 161,000 the year after the unique 1870-S specimen was struck. Frosty luster and virtually untoned surfaces combine to provide a strong degree of visual presentation. Moderate clash marks are present on both sides, with the reverse revealing die cracks in the lower wreath and ribbon ends. The V-3a attribution was achieved thanks to the Clint Cummins Attribution Guide located on the LSCC website, (https://sites.google.com/view/clintcummins/half-dime-attribution-guide), PCGS has graded 8 total with none finer. A prime opportunity for the advanced series collector to acquire an unimprovable example. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder. December 1969
