Gem $6000 New May 18! Gem Original, Newtown Collection.. The half dollar run from 1879-1890 forms a series of low production issues, with the highest mintage, 12,001 pieces, occurring in 1888. While many examples were saved at the time of release, the low mintage figures are hard to resist, and these remain popular with collectors today.
