Original $300 Tougher New Orleans Issue, Crusty Gray Patina, Fully Original, Lakeland Collection. Consignor Price Reduction. The early 1840s brought a host of start-up challenges to the New Orleans mint. Seated dimes from the 1840 through 1842 period are known for weak strikes from lapped dies. The F-105 die pairing, with second index finger along shield, comes reasonably well struck for the issue. This Lakeland Collection circulated duplicate has been nicely preserved. Obverse coloring is rose and blue gray that performs well under angled lighting. The reverse harbors greenish shades along with rose-gray. Surfaces have a few ticks consistent with the assigned grade. Housed in ANACS blue label holder.
