Choice $550 Rich Frosted Radiance, Swirling Cartwheels, So Close to Full Gem, Wicker Park Collection. 1899 saw the Philadelphia struck Barber quarter mintage climb to over 12 millions pieces though the Mint State populations are surprisingly small in comparison. PCGS has certified only 194 example in MS63 through MS65. To illustrate how tiny that surviving Mint State population is, simple math indicates only 15 pieces for every million coins struck. The Wicker Park Barber release features this heavily frosted example at the MS64 level. Under a bright light, the radiance is notably brilliant with swirling cartwheels. The strike is hammered with high relief motifs which are intricately detailed. A field mark in the middle right obverse field holds this offering back from full gem status. Another eye appealing offering to consider at a fair offer price. Housed in NGC Gen 7 (1997-2000) holder.
