Gem $775 Gem Proof Strike, Swirling Cartwheels, CAC Approved. The 1881 3 cent nickel proof strikes were minted to the tune of 3,575 pieces. As a result this date is a target for type set collectors due to availability. At 2024 Summer Baltimore, this lovely CAC approved example with acquired in trade. Under a bright light, the mirrors come to life along with swirling cartwheels. The obverse is colored a classic pewter-gray while the reverse does exhibit sharp bluish mirrors as illustrated. A lovely gem that is fairly priced. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder.
