Another White Pine Collection release, this nicely preserved 1855 Charlotte half eagle saw only 39,788 struck. A very scarce date when choice given extensive circulation in the southern Atlantic states. Current survival estimates are tendered at 500 pieces with most in the VF to XF range. This example features a base green-gold coloring overlaid with orange-gold at the peripheries. Wear is light with typical chatter in the fields with residual frosted luster noted at the borders. The overall presentation is quite satisfying, despite the more modest grade. This pleasant half eagle is destined to delight fans of early branch mint U.S. gold.
