 Choice $3150 Doubled Die Obverse, Frosted Luster, Lofty Grade, New Orleans Collection. The highlight of the newest New Orleans Collection release is an 1841-O Seated quarter with the Briggs 2-C doubled die obverse. This obverse of the 1841-O double die obverse is distinct, and most quarter collectors could immediately attribute the piece based on the obverse shield alone, with doubling most prominent on LIBERTY. A number of doubled-die 1841-O quarters were uncovered in the 1982 New Orleans hoard, many of which suffered environment damage. Whether this piece came from the hoard or not, it is clearly one of the more appealing survivors. Surfaces are notably original with textured frosted luster that is expected for the issue. Cartwheels are also present and active. Splashes of gold and blues are noted on the obverse and more consistent on the reverse. Please be aware that the toning is lighter in hand than on the GFRC images. A single line is noted on the obverse parallel to the left facing arm with two tiny lines on the reverse. This is one of the better high grade 1841-O quarters seen and worthy of consideration. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder.
