Choice $3150 Semi-Scarce Date, A Near-Gem, New Orleans Collection. The 1898 New Orleans quarter issue is a semi-scarce date with a limited number of certified example in MS64 or better. Full gems are very rare with near-gems being the last affordable grade for many collectors. This newly released New Orleans Collection duplicate display rose-gold and blue shades across the obverse while the reverse is untoned other than hints of gold at the borders. The originality is undeniable with granular frosted luster being pronounced under a bright light. Since the reverse is untoned, the cartwheel action is quite vibrant, though a bit muted on the obverse. It is reported that this date suffers from strike issue which is seen at the lower right eagle talons and arrow feathers. A strong example for an advanced collection. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder.
