$975 		GFRC-Lite, Difficult Early San Francisco Date, Light Gray Patina, Toning Spots. An important 1858-S Briggs 1-A example that survived the early western frontier days. The initial smaller silver denominations sport moderate mintages at the San Francisco Mint including the 1858-S issue with 121,000 pieces immediately entering circulation and remaining there. No Mint State examples are known. This moderately circulated survivor was recently purchased and is available. Surfaces are toned an even light gray with several enhanced toning areas. Those areas are darker on the images than during in-hand viewing due to the way that GFRC images are processed. A 10x found "dirt" surrounding the lower eagle claws and arrows. PCGS has certified only 10 pieces at the offered grade. Housed in PCGS Gen 5.0 (2015) holder.
