 Original $1550 Early San Francisco Strike, Crusty Original and Near-Choice, Fully Struck, Sooner Collection. A freshly graded example of the important second year Liberty Seated issue at the San Francisco Mint. The Sooner Collection is releasing a previous acquired 1856-S example that is strictly original and conservatively graded. Thick crusty gray patina covers both sides along with a generous amount of "dirt" in the protected areas. Strike is complete and pleasing. One does not often see this date come so well preserved. My first thought was a CAC submission given the crusty toning and near AU wear. However there is an old rim bruise by the Lioberty cap that precludes a full Choice rating and probably would negative a CAC green bean. Otherwise, this offering is very solid for the grade.
