The New Orleans Collection makes a splash with the release of one of the finest 47-O half dollars extant, with just a single MS65+ graded finer at PCGS. While the mintage of 2,584,000 was sizable for the era, Mint State survivors are unfrequently encountered with any Mint State example being an important rarity in MS64 or finer. Our WB-2 example excels under a bright light with steely reflective fields that are the epitome of undisturbed viewing. The luster is uniform on both sides and a further testament of the unquestionable originality. Though the GFRC images indicate darkly toned surfaces, bright light inspection is a completely different experience with light pastel rose and sky blues dominating the luster. Reverse presentation is similar with golden hues within the legend lettering. The strike is complete and the fields are pristine.
